This White House in Atlanta Has Been Saved from Foreclosure

The present occupants of this White House in Atlanta will not be evicted as it has been saved from foreclosure! The residents are Fred Milani and his spouse. They had constructed their own replica of the White House in Atlanta. It is situated in Dekalb County and is not distant from Atlanta.

Milani complained that when he got a foreclosure notice initially he did not know what to do. Milani was apprehensive that the house would be auctioned off at the courthouse of the county on Tuesday 6th January 2009. He was defaulting for an amount of $1.7 million.

But Milani has pinned his hopes on a faith group based in Atlanta together with his prayers. The group is trying to persuade the bank to negotiate rather then opt for foreclosure. Milani said that the lender now wants to talk with him for modifying the loan. This means that the Atlanta White House is no longer in foreclosure.

The coalition based on faith comprises of activists from the church and community and has termed itself AMMOG – A Mighty Move of God.

On the day of the auction AMMOG sits down in the court premises offering to help the house owners facing foreclosure. They come forward with their time and even money to talk to lenders and attorneys so as to prevent foreclosures. They do not want the houses to be lost at the auctions. The group generally works for the low-income house owners but broadly it offers its help to all those needing assistance.

Dr. Robert Cobble works with this group as well as with Concerned Black Clergy of Atlanta. He reasons that the curse of foreclosure can strike anybody – even someone who is a developer like Fred Milani. Milani constructs mansions but the current economic foreclosure crisis is hostile to his making a living out of it.

In 2002 when the climate was balmy and sunny, Milani made the house out of sheer fun. It is a mini version of the President’s residence at Washington. The building covers 16,000 square feet and the idea is termed to be luxury but laced with patriotism. The mansion is replete with replicas of a Lincoln bedroom, an Oval office, crystal dripping chandeliers, an awesome staircase and many guest rooms. In the front is a big fountain bang in the middle of the round driveway leading on from the main entrance.
